Great
strides begin with your support
Healthy Beginnings has grown significantly
over the last fifteen years and much of that growth is
attributable
to the quality of care received by the women who make up our
client base. Most clients are referred directly
from one of 17 area pregnancy centers. As a result, we are not
very well known in the community at large.
This fact makes our current situation acute.
The owners of our current premises have asked us to find a new
home. They intend to demolish and have
stopped any maintenance or repairs on the building. After a
thorough search of the desired target area, we
purchased a reasonably priced clinic building at 47 E. Hollister
Street. It is close to the Pregnancy Center
and on two bus lines, will provide a comfortable office for our
patients and nicer surroundings for our many
medical volunteers. The building is ideal, with room to grow and
space in the future for additional pediatric
services for our new families. We need immediate cash to build
out the empty space and make it suitable for
our purposes.
We also need to replace our aging ultrasound machines. This
equipment is old and has become
too difficult and expensive to repair. Our plan calls for five
new networked ultrasound machines. Networking
means our medical director can remotely access and examine
images from any location at any time. This can
save valuable hours in the case of emergencies and increase our
level of service generally.
Finally, our capital campaign seeks to pay off the mortgage to
the new building over
the next three (3) years. We currently have tenants in the
interim to help cover the monthly expense.
However, the nature of our donor-supported operation does not
allow us to responsibly include ongoing debt.
In short, our capital campaign is meant to fund one great stride
that will put Healthy Beginnings in a better
place to continue meeting the needs of the underserved in our
community.
